Schools and Youth in Permaculture – “plant it forward”

Institute of Permaculture Education for Children  –  EMPOWERING GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP

PERMACULTURE INSTITUTE OF THAILAND THAILAND RESILIENCE CENTER

We equip teachers and mobilize farmers by creating resources, providing expert advice and connecting schools and agriculture to create learning experiences.

Equipping teachers  – We provide schools with sustainable curriculum, integration lesson plans into curriculum, tools and sustainable education. We direct and consult with schools and educators to provide the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) of the UN global classroom pedagogy across all keystages of student development. We guide and coach teachers in delivering high-quality learning experiences about sustainability, sustainable living, urban healthy food, farming ,countryside and urban city sustainable environmental education.

We also provide access to training thru our Permaculture, BioDynamic, sustainable and eco-agriculture education on how to incorporate these topics into current curriculum — both in and out of the classroom — and we work with you to build custom education programs for your institution.   Read More

Evaluation for Education – Our vision is a greener future for all citizens, it begins in the classroom and with belief in the powerful impact schools have on sustainable futures, both in the garden programs but also on the mental, physical, and psychological health of children and youth. School Gardens engage students by providing a dynamic environment to observe, discover, experiment, nurture and learn. School Gardens are living laboratories where interdisciplinary lessons are drawn from real life experiences, encouraging students to become active participants in the learning process they impact all ares of children’s lives –

An Environmental Literacy Plan (ELP) provides an education plan to teach about how ecosystems and human systems are interdependent, particularly, how the consumption choices human beings make alter their ability to live sustainability. ELP’s serve as a central component of the students access to the most challenging, contemporary curricular, and extra-curricular programes that fully prepare them for a globally connected and fast-changing world environment. Programes should be based on best international practices and should promote a strong sense of intercultural understanding and global engagement especially ecosystems, eco-agriculture, sustainability and engagement.

FARM-to-SCHOOL – For more click here

Thousands of schools and education organizations across Asia and the world, are embracing “food education” through – 1. school gardens, 2. educational farms, and 3. school meals. These meals are filled with nutritious, local, and seasonal ingredients and attach a educational element that enhances students awareness of nature, citizenship and where food comes from. They bring locally sourced and nutritious food to school cafeterias, improve child nutrition, provide agriculture, health, and nutrition education opportunities to young people, and support local farmers. It has been estimated every dollar spent in farm-to-school programs generates more than two dollars in local economic activity. This includes engaged parents in learning healthier eating at home, reduce food waste at the school, even and improve student test scores and an increase in children’s fruit and vegetable consumption by more than 40 percent. Farm-to-school programs can help inspire healthier eating habits in children and these habits can lead to higher educational outcomes. When children learn about the connection between their food and the environment, they often become better stewards of the land. Across the globe, farm-to-school programs are helping foster connections between students, teachers, parents, farmers, and policymakers through activities that support health, nutrition, agriculture, and local economies.
